The AMERIPEN Voice
Insights from AMERIPEN leadership and voices across the packaging industry on the policy, innovation, and priorities shaping packaging today.
As our 2026 Annual Summit approaches in just a few weeks, I’m reminded that one of AMERIPEN’s greatest strengths is our ability to bring together voices from across the packaging value chain to engage in meaningful, solutions-oriented conversations about the future of packaging policy.

Before AMERIPEN had staff, structure, or a seat at legislative tables, it had a question: Who is speaking for packaging? Years ago, at an industry conference, Gail Tavill and several industry peers found themselves in a candid conversation about the growing wave of packaging regulation. Each material sector had its own association — fiber, plastics, glass, metals, — and each was advocating independently.

As we step into 2026, I’ve been reflecting on the question at the heart of any strong organization: How do we continue to demonstrate our value in a changing environment? The packaging policy landscape continues to evolve quickly. Expectations are higher. Conversations are more complex. And the need for clear, fact-based leadership has never been greater. That reality is guiding much of our focus this year.
